A Corpus Christi procession by boat down Bayou Teche will be held on August 15 in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of St. Martin de Tours parish and the arrival of the Acadians. The day will begin with Mass at St. Leo the Great Church in Leonville celebrated by Bishop Provost of Lake Charles . After Mass we will commence a boat procession down the Teche toward St. Martinville.
Stops will be made at churches along the way for recitation of the Rosary and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at Arnaudville, Cecilia, Breaux Bridge , and Parks for the crowds gathered at these sites. The boat procession will arrive at Evangeline Oak in St. Martinville at about 4:45pm for Benediction at St. Martin de Tours. The procession will continue afterwards to Mater Dolorosa for the celebration of Solemn Vespers of the Assumption and Final Benediction at 6:00 PM.
