St. Ignatius Loyola, as part of the spirituality that is part and parcel of the Jesuit tradition, strongly encouraged what is known as ‘The Examen”. This is a simple method, set in the context of prayer, of reflecting upon, or “examining” a period of time, usually a day. However, it can be useful in looking at a longer period, say even a whole year. The website Ignatian Spirituality offers a guide to applying the wisdom of the Examen to the last year. As we wrap up 2015, you may want to try this path to insight and growth. The Examen Prayer for the Year is found here.
