Catholicism is not a spectator sport. The call that we receive in Baptism is a call to service, simply by virtue of being made a member of the Body of Christ. The one we follow, Christ Jesus, made clear in word and action that he had come not to be served but to serve.
Part of the richness of our Catholic Tradition is the opportunity to serve in many different ways. Some of these are directly related to the life and ministry of the church while others are based in family or in the community. All true service is service in Christ, made possible through and by his grace.
